Chatsworth Boys Make First Court Appearance in Park Assault
May 20, 2008, 8:56 PM PDT
CHATSWORTH -- Two teenage boys made their first appearances today in
Sylmar Juvenile Court in connection with an alleged sexual attack on a 15-year-
old girl who was found unconscious in a Chatsworth park last week.
However, arraignment was postponed to May 27 for the teen facing the
more serious charges.
The 15-year-old Canoga Park boy is accused of one felony
count each of rape of an unconscious person, sodomy of an unconscious person,
sexual penetration by a foreign object of an unconscious victim, sexual
penetration by a foreign object of a drugged victim and rape by use of drugs.
The other teen, a 16-year-old boy, denied a Juvenile Court petition
accusing him of a misdemeanor sexual battery charge.
The teenagers -- who were arrested Friday -- remain in juvenile custody
pending a detention hearing next Tuesday.
The alleged attack occurred shortly before 11 a.m. last Thursday at
Mason Park. Authorities said the teens were at the park because classes at
Chatsworth High School were not scheduled to start until later in the day.
The 15-year-old girl had been drinking, but left her beverage
unattended, authorities said.
