Mutilated Woman's Body Found in South L.A. South L.A. -- The Los Angeles Police Department is investigating the murder of a middle-aged woman found partially decapitated in an alley in South Los Angeles early this morning.

Police said a business owner found the woman's body this morning in a graffiti-covered alley adjacent to train tracks, between 112th and 113th streets and just east of Avalon Boulevard.

Midmorning Friday, dozens of officers fanned across the tracks and searched through dumpsters in the area for evidence.

Police said the cause of death was unclear because the woman's body was badly mutilated, "with significant injuries," and the victim had no identification.
