The Lions Clubs International celebrates the 30th Annual Lions Day with the United Nations on March 14, 2008. The relationship between the two organizations focuses exclusively on humanitarian endeavors.

Lions Day With the United Nations is a major annual celebration at U.N. headquarters in New York, as well as at Lions Club communities throughout the world.

Lions Clubs International celebrate the 30th Annual Lions Day with the United Nations in March, 2008 – and the decades long partnership between the two organizations, focused exclusively on humanitarian endeavors worldwide. A majestic sculpted lion’s head, framed by the laurel wreath symbol of peace, is adorned by a golden “We Serve” medallion. Thirty outwalkers surround the float, bearing the flags of United Nation member nations.

FLOWERING:

The lion’s face is created with onion, flax and clover seed, rice and trimmed erianthus; the mane is made up of chrysanthemum, light beauregard, setaria, dark wheat, wild oats, black beard wheat and uva grass. The laurel wreath features green ti leaf, eucalyptus leaf, silver leaf and parsley flake. The ribbon is covered with red and white carnation petals and blue statice; the medallion is gold clover, flax seed and blue statice. The base of the float is covered with rows of red, yellow and lavender roses, carnations and gerbera daisies. Accents are daisies, chrysanthemums, gypsophila and leather fern, and the lower edges of the float are decorated with strawflower and ground rice.
