Bon Voyage

Wishing travelers an enthusiastic “Bon Voyage” is a traditional element of celebrating their departure to destinations far and near.

FLOAT DESCRIPTION:

Height: 17 ft.
Width: 18 ft.
Length: 35 ft.

A classic biplane soars from the runway, above a symbolic world globe, transporting its pilot and copilot to celebrations bounded only by the imagination -- as family and friends wish them an enthusiastic “Bon Voyage.” Depicted at the rear of the float is a replica of the historic tower of the Grand Central Airp Terminal in Glendale. Offering a typical San Gabriel Valley scene, the airport is surrounded by palm trees and colorful gardens.

FLOWERING:

The body of the plane is created with fine cut everlasting, red strawflower and ground lentil. The wings are created with yellow strawflower and the propeller is onion seed, flax seed, poppy seed and cabbage seed. The tires are black seaweed and crushed rice. The plane’s “smoke” track is white, orange and yellow chrysanthemums. The tower roof is palm bark, and the walls are crushed rice and cabbage, poppy and onion seeds The wind sock is purple statice and ground rice. The palm trees have palm fiber trunks and palm leaf fronds. The deck of the float is dendrobium orchids, white and lavender roses, carnations, and gerbera daisies.
