A cause for celebration in cities around the world is the day “The Circus Comes to Town.” Jan. 1, 2008 is the day that the Western Asset circus train – with four life size cars, more than 160 feet long – comes to Pasadena and Rose Parade viewers. In addition to its powerful steam locomotive, the train features an animal car with gigantic sculpted beasts, a calliope car playing traditional circus music, and the trapeze car with performers perched some three stories above the street. Surrounding it all are traditional circus performers on the street, entertaining viewers all along the parade route.
