Viva Italia
The grandeur and romance of Italy is celebrated in this elegant and entertaining float. This entry celebrates Italy’s rich cultural history and ties in to the January 18th opening of the Palazzo Resort in Las Vegas, which comes from the same company that built The Venetian.
In addition to its rich cultural history, Italy is home to one of the worlds’ oldest celebrations, the Carnival in Venice, first recorded in the year 1268.
The Palazzo Resort invites the world to celebrate the beauty of Italy with their inaugural Rose Parade float, which is an eloquent fusion of floral, history and entertainment. |

The splendor and romance of Italy sets the stage for The Palazzo Resort’s inaugural Rose Parade float entry and its celebratory opening on January 18th. The Palazzo, which comes from the same company that built The Venetian, is a new 50-story resort featuring 3,000 all-suite rooms, the most upscale retails stores in Las Vegas, the Broadway smash-hit “Jersey Boys” and restaurants from the world’s most acclaimed chefs, including a new restaurant from Rose Parade Grand Marshal Emeril Lagasse. Set amid some of Italy’s most iconic landmarks, including St. Mark’s Square and the elegant palazzos along the Amalfi Coast, the grandeur and elegance of Italy comes vividly alive in color, music and flowers. | FLOWERING: |
The architectural buildings influenced by the luxurious palazzos along the Amalfi coastline and the Campanile Tower of St. Mark’s Square are recreated in an assortment of materials including golden flax, creamy white sesame seed, peach lentil, red millet, safflower, dehydrated carrot and red bell pepper with accents of sweet rice and eucalyptus leaves. At center stage, the winged Lion of Venice has been craftfully reproduced in golden strawflower petals and sits upon a marble column of sweet rice, lettuce and clover seed. Cobblestone pathways of walnut shell complete St. Mark’s Square. The lavishly ornate Italian gondola of rich red mahogany ti, overlaid in luminous gold strawflower petals, floats in floral water created with cool blue iris accented with crisp white roses and orchids. Over 30,000 roses are featured through gardens and floral displays.
