Televised Bomb Test

On April 9, 1952, KTLA came to Yucca Flats in the Nevada desert to broadcast the detonation of an atomic bomb. Klaus Landsberg, KTLA's technical genius, figured out a way to send television signals from the desert all the way back to channel 5 in Los Angeles. He then offered the video to all television networks. The broadcast was so successful that another detonation a week later was also televised. Click for video
