Q: How can I write to my favorite actors or the producers or writers of my favorite shows?
A: Click
here to see a list of addresses for the shows that are currently
in production. Please do not send correspondences for these shows to KTLA. We do not forward mail.
Q: My TiVo didn't record the Morning Show. What happened?
A:The KTLA newscasts changed names effective Monday, 2/4. The 5-6a is now KTLA News @ 5A, the 6-7a is now KTLA News @ 6A, the 7-9a is now the KTLA Morning News and the 9-10a is now KTLA News @ 9A. The on air graphics will change over the next several weeks.
Q: Are DVDs of the 2008 Rose Parade available for purchase?
A: DVDs are not available for the 2008 parade.
Viewer comments can be left at 323-460-5723.
Q: When KTLA preempts CW shows for breaking news, sports or specials, do you reschedule them?
A: Yes. Whenever KTLA preempts CW Network programming for sports, parades or breaking news, we always reschedule the shows within the same week - it's in our contract with the CW (the only exception might be a huge national tragedy). Since it is breaking news, the news department does not know how long they will need to cover a story that may affect our local audience. So, we cannot always make an announcement during the coverage or run a crawl to alert viewers of a show being moved until we know how many shows we need to move. We also have to alert the CW to find out where they want their shows made good. It takes time to get in contact with staff and get instructions finalized especially when news happens outside the normal workday. Usually the shows are moved to Saturday in primetime (8-10p) unless we already have a sports event scheduled at that time. In that case, we might have to run the shows earlier or later on a Saturday or Sunday. We do our best to promote the moves whether due to breaking news or a scheduled event like sports or parades by running promos, announcements on the news programs and information on our website.
Q: Why do Everybody Hates Chris, Smallville, Supernatural (or fill in the name of your favorite CW primetime show) air reruns?
A: Each season, between 13 and 22 new episodes of scripted shows (sitcoms and dramas) are produced for each network show. With approximately 38 weeks in a season (Sept to May, not including summer) and only 22 new episodes, that means at least 16 regular season weeks will be repeats. Shows that do poorly in repeats sometimes share their timeslot with another show so that new episodes will air for 11 weeks in a row before taking a break and changing to a different show. Sometimes a special one time only program will air in place of a repeat of a regular show. More networks are providing mid-season shows or reality programming to fill months where reruns would normally air.
Q: I don't want my favorite CW shows cancelled. What can I do?
A: Call or write to The CW (not the television stations) to express your comments, questions or opinions. You can contact The CW at 818-977-6878 or email at feedback@cwtv.com or write to 3300 W. Olive Avenue, Burbank, CA 91505.
The CW Network has announced their 2008/09 schedule (see one of the earlier questions above). They did not renew Beauty And The Geek, Farmer Wants A Wife, Girlfriends, Aliens In America, Friday Night Smackdown, CW Now, Online Nation or Life Is Wild.
Q: What is a Sig Alert? You talk about it on your Morning News during the traffic report.
A: If you do an Internet search, you'll find the definition and who invented the term.
Q: What does CW stand for? Can you explain more about The CW?
A: CBS and Warner Bros. partnered to create a new network called The CW (The "C" for CBS and the "W" for Warner Bros.). The CW provides programming across the country for the time periods of Monday-Friday at 3-5pm, Monday-Friday at 8-10pm, Saturday at 7a-12n (CW4Kids) and Sunday at 5-10pm. Tribune, which owns KTLA, has entered into a 10-year agreement to carry The CW Network programming in the Los Angeles area only. KTLA is not owned by CBS or Warner Bros. and we have no say in the shows they give to us to broadcast. The CW can be contacted directly at 3300 W. Olive Avenue, Burbank, CA 91505 or by phone at 818-977-2500 during their hours of 9a-6p or viewer comments can be left at 818-977-6878 or through the 'Contact Us' link on their website at http://www.cwtv.com
Q: What shows do you air in HDTV?
A: The CW offers these shows in HD: Everybody Hates Chris, Aliens In America, Girlfriends, The Game, Reaper, Gossip Girl, Smallville, Supernatural, Life Is Wild and now Friday Night Smackdown. KTLA broadcasts all of its newscasts in HD as well as Two And A Half Men, the live Rose Parade and all Los Angeles Clippers games.
Q: What shows do you air with the Spanish simulcast via SAP?
A:Several syndicators provide us with shows that contain both an English and Spanish audio track built onto the show. The shows we have containing both audio tracks are According To Jim, Friday Night Smackdown!, Friends, Sex And The City, Star Trek, Two And A Half Men and Will & Grace. If you wish to listen to these shows in Spanish, make sure to select SAP or Second Audio Program to receive the Spanish track. You may have to check your cable box, VCR or other recording device to see if the audio is set correctly. If you wish to receive the programs in English only, make sure SAP is NOT selected in your menu, recording device or cable. Sometimes the cable and satellite providers transpose the two audio tracks. You may need to contact them to get them to correct it as KTLA does not broadcast only in Spanish. More information about how to set your television is available on our website.

Q: How can I find out if a show is available on DVD?
A: The website www.TVShowsonDVD.com
lists all the shows and the number of seasons currently available on DVD and those shows scheduled to be released soon. KTLA does not own the shows we broadcast, so you must purchase shows from stores or online video services. KTLA does not control when shows are released.
Q: I was on a TV show KTLA aired in the 40's, 50's, 60's,
or recently and would like a copy of the show. How do I obtain one?
A: KTLA does not have an archives department and we are unable to research
old programs that may have aired on or been produced at KTLA. Many shows were actually
produced by other companies, who rented a soundstage from us, and so they retain
the copyrights to their shows. Tapes of a few older shows and KTLA news events were donated to The Paley Center For Media (formerly known as the Museum of Broadcasting)in Beverly Hills. The public can view these shows during the museum's hours. Go to www.mtr.org for more information and hours. However, they will not give out copies of shows since it is copyrighted material. You should do Internet or library research first to locate the actual production company of the show so you can contact them directly with your request.
Q: I would like to attend a taping of a show. How
do I get tickets?
A: KTLA does not produce the shows we broadcast so we do not have access
to tickets. Please contact AUDIENCE UNLIMITED at 818-753-3470, TV TICKETS -
PRIMETIME SHOWS at 323-653-4105, or STUDIOAUDIENCES.COM. You can also check a show's website for ticket information. Not all sitcoms tape in front of live studio audiences. One hour dramas have closed sets and do not allow audiences.
Q: How can I purchase a copy of a show or movie I saw
on KTLA?
A: KTLA does not own the shows or movies we air. We pay license fees to the syndicators of shows and movies for the right to broadcast their program or movie for a very specific period of time. Since we don't own these products, it is illegal for us to give or sell copies of shows and movies. Past seasons of shows may be available on DVD. Check with a video store or online at www.TVShowsonDVD.com for what shows and seasons are available for purchase. Movies are available through video stores or online stores.
