About the Program

"MAKING IT!" is a weekly half-hour show which highlights the triumphs, challenges, and contributions of minority business enterprises. Its mission is to promote economic empowerment. Each episode includes:

• TWO ENTREPRENEURS' STORIES - On-location, profiling the efforts of men and women who strive for an improved community through business ownership.
• STUDIO GUEST EXPERT- Answers questions that provide the how-to in getting started or expanding your business.
• SECRETS OF SUCCESS - High performance individuals offer their tips on "Making It!" as an entrepreneur.
• CALENDAR OF EVENTS - Business seminars and workshops.
• INFO-LINE - Useful resources, including publications and web sites.

"MAKING IT!" is hosted by KTLA's Emmett Miller and Lynette Romero. Our hosts, along with a dynamic team of reporters, follow the featured entrepreneurs from dreams to reality.

The show is inspiring for those who want to empower themselves and the community through business ownership. It is broadcast in Los Angeles, Sacramento, San Diego, and San Francisco. The show's sponsors include Bank of America, Hilton Hotels, Honda, McDonalds, Sempra Energy, Verizon, Washington Mutual and others.

Since its premiere in March 1989 on KTLA in Los Angeles, "MAKING IT!" has received over 24 awards and citations from all levels of Government and Business organizations, including three Emmy Awards for best "Informational/Public Affairs Series."

"MAKING IT! Minority Success Stories" is produced by Nelson Davis Television Productions (NDTP) in association with KTLA, Channel 5, Los Angeles, California.

How to Submit Your Story

Who qualifies?

• You must be a minority (Asian, Hispanic, American Indian, African American)
• You must be a business owner
• Your business must be located in Los Angeles county or orange county
• You must have an interesting story to tell (it may be motivational, original, etc.)

What do I need to do?

If the above describes you, follow these steps:

Send written information about you and your business

• Company bio & brochure (press kit)
• Personal bio
• Any articles written about you or your business
• Brief note stating what makes your story unique and special

• We will review all submissions
• If we have questions, we will call you
• We will further develop your story by scheduling a preliminary phone interview.
